Recycled Postura Max®

A responsible school chair that moves the dial on sustainability.

Australia is facing significant challenges in managing its plastic waste.

On average, Australia produces 3.5 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, with households being the largest contributor accounting for 47% of it.

In 2018–2019, 84% of discarded plastic in Australia was landfilled, 13% was recycled, and locally manufactured plastics had only 4% recycled content. It's estimated about 130,000 tonnes of Australian plastic ends up in our waterways and oceans each year.

In other words, we are making very little use of the precious resources we extract without feeding them back into the resource loop. Australia is missing out on an estimated $419 million of economic value each year by not recovering all PET and HDPE.

It started with a simple thought.

What if we could take some of the household plastic waste (Number 5 Polypropylene plastic) and turn it into something meaningful and long-lasting?

Something that will prevent plastic waste from entering the environment. Something that will be cherished by future generations.

We took our best-selling school chair Postura® Max and remade it with post-consumer recycled plastic sourced from Australia.
