A closer look at our work with Lee Street State Special School.

The future-focussed learning community, committed to advancing the individual potential of each child in an innovative, supportive and collaborative learning environment.

Our brief for this build was to create rich learning environments and inviting spaces that both students and staff loved to use and be a part of.

The school is located in Caboolture in the Moreton Bay region. Opened in 2020, the brand new facilities provide rich learning environments for students across all learning areas, with facilities for the Arts, STEM, Hospitality, Sensory spaces and a hall containing dance studios, music therapy room, performing arts stage and indoor sports stadium incorporated.

Calm, natural tones were used to make the spaces feel comfortable, inviting and homely while multi-use and flexibility were key factors when designing the space. Lee Street’s goal is to instil in all young people a curiosity and love for learning and to foster the individual talents of each student to allow them to reach their full potential.

The learning environment is key to achieving this and we worked closely with the School to fulfil this ethos. The use of soft furnishings to create breakout spaces for collaboration or quiet learning, while also filling the space of large scale areas.
