Case Study: Nirimba State Primary School

When Nirimba State Primary School opened its doors, it did so with a clear vision: inviting, colourful learning spaces where every student had a place to call their own. To bring that vision to life, the school partnered with Sebel across one of its largest fitout projects — spanning 30 General Learning Areas and a full range of specialist spaces throughout the campus.

The Brief

Foundation Principal Stephen Moore came to Sebel with a specific vision for the new school. He wanted learning spaces that were engaging and adaptable — with dedicated desks for individual students and inviting reading areas woven throughout each classroom. Equally important was a colour palette that reflected the school’s identity and created a sense of energy and belonging across every year level.

Sebel worked closely with Principal Moore, the Deputy Principal and the Business Manager to understand those goals and translate them into a cohesive furniture solution across the entire school.

The Approach

Rather than presenting a standard specification, Sebel took a collaborative approach from the outset. The process began with the Postura® Max chair — one of Sebel’s most trusted seating solutions for primary school environments — and a careful colour selection process to ensure the furniture felt considered and intentional throughout the school.

After reviewing the school’s overall colour theme, three colours were selected for the Postura® Max chairs across different year levels: Emerald, Wasabi and Sapphire. Student tables were specified in a neutral timber tone to complement the chair colours without competing with them.

For soft furnishings, the school chose specialist indigenous print fabrics, which became a distinctive focal point in reading and breakout areas throughout the campus.

Sebel took full ownership of the fitout from design through to installation, ensuring the finished result was consistent across every space.

The Result

The completed fitout spans the full breadth of the school — 30 General Learning Areas, breakout spaces, administration areas, resource centres, multimedia rooms, music rooms and the school hall.

Every space reflects the founding vision: bright, flexible and designed with students in mind. The custom colour selections give each year level its own identity, while the consistent use of neutral table tones creates a cohesive feel across the campus.

The team at Nirimba State Primary School was delighted with the result.
