Case Study: St Gregory’s College
When St Gregory’s College Campbelltown began planning its most significant building project in decades, the brief was clear: create learning spaces flexible enough for modern teaching, durable enough to last a generation, and worthy of a school entering its second century.
In 2026, St Greg’s celebrates 100 years. The centenary coincides with the completion of a brand-new Junior School building and a major refurbishment of one of the Senior School’s oldest wings — a building that, like the college itself, has been part of the Campbelltown community for nearly a century.
Sebel was chosen to furnish both.

A School with History — and a Vision for the Future
St Gregory’s College is a Marist Catholic school with deep roots in the Campbelltown community. Founded in 1926 as an all-boys high school, it has grown significantly over the decades — most recently with the opening of a co-educational Junior School in 2018, which welcomed its fourth stream of Kindergarten students in 2026.
College Principal Matthew Brennan describes the centenary year as a turning point — not just a celebration of the past, but a deliberate investment in the next chapter.
The Brief
College Principal Matthew Brennan wanted learning spaces flexible enough to support modern teaching — and durable enough to last.
The Senior School refurbishment carried particular significance: the wing being renovated was nearly 100 years old, and the Sebel furniture inside it had been in daily use for over 30 years. Sebel’s practice of timestamping its products, making it possible to identify and verify the age of furniture at end of life, aligned with the school’s commitment to sustainability and considered procurement.
Local connection mattered too. Sebel’s warehouse in nearby Minto, the approachability of local sales manager Rachael Gardiner, and a visit from Sebel’s National Sales Manager Emma and company owner Hamish Whyte, gave the school confidence they were choosing a partner, not just a supplier.
Having a variety of furniture allows staff to challenge themselves and rethink how they teach. The furniture plays a key role in enabling that flexibility.

The Approach
Across both campuses, furniture was selected to support independent, flexible learning — moving away from the traditional classroom model toward spaces that could adapt to different teaching styles and year levels.
In the Junior School, classrooms were fitted with Twist’n’Lock Adjustable Height Tables and Postura® Max Chairs in Slate, with Create-A-Cart and Organise Tote storage solutions. The new library features the Smart Softies lounge range alongside a Smart Curved Bookcase, while Inclusive Education Rooms were furnished with the Mindfull sensory range.
In the Senior School, the Year 12 Study Space was fitted with Postura® Plus chairs and stools in Navy — custom hot-stamped with the school crest in gold — paired with Create-A-Table Double and Pirouette Nesting Tables. Senior classrooms across both floors feature Postura® Max Chairs, Teacher Stations and flexible table configurations throughout.
The Result
Both campuses were delivered in time for the centenary year, giving students and staff spaces that reflect where St Greg’s is headed — not just where it has been. The outgoing Senior School furniture was recycled through Sebel’s RePlay Recycling program, an outcome Principal Brennan described as something the school was genuinely excited about.
With two further stages of Senior School refurbishment already planned, this is the beginning of an ongoing partnership.
We had furniture in our classrooms that had lasted over 30 years, and the opportunity to recycle it was something we were really excited about.
